Ways To Speed Up Metabolism

Ever wonder why your best friend can go through a pint of ice cream without gaining a pound while just one spoonful goes straight to your hips? The answer lies in your metabolism, that little engine in your body that burns calories all day, every day. Because of genetics, some women burn fat faster than others. But age, weight, diet, and exercise habits also play a role.

Here is some ways to speed up your metabolism

Eat (a good) breakfast Every Single Day – A proper breakfast composed of foods high in complex carbohydrates will get your day started right by giving your body the energy it needs for the first half of the day. Skipping breakfast has the opposite effect of what most people think and the lack of caloric energy can actually cause your metabolism to slow down.

Eat little and often – there’s evidence that eating small, regular meals throughout the day, rather than one or two large meals, may help to keep your metabolism ticking over. Surprisingly, around 10 percent of the calories we use each day go on digesting and absorbing food – so the more times you eat, the greater this effect is likely to be.

Exercise With Intensity – Exercise encourages the body to take in oxygen which is not only vital to stay alive but also important in burning off excess calories. When exercising, your prime goal should be to increase your heart rate, then to maintain that increased rate for about twenty minutes each day.

Get enough sleep (7 hours) – It is essential to have a good sound sleep, as this is the time when your body heals and repairs itself.

Drink lots of water per day. Water keeps your body hydrated, removes wastes and toxins and aids the process of food digestion. Once you get into the habit of drinking water you should aim to drink about eight glasses every day.
