The Symptoms of Diabetes

Diabetes is mainly of two type’s type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The most important symptoms of diabetes of both the types is elevated blood glucose levels. In type 1 diabetes this is due to body unable to produce insulin and in type 2 diabetes this is due to body develops a resistance to insulin. This makes the insulin production low.

The symptoms of diabetes are due to high blood sugar levels in the body. These symptoms makes easy to recognize diabetes.

In untreated cases of diabetes it leads to severe complications and health problems.

The common symptoms for diabetes type 1 and type 2 diabetes are

Weakness: As glucose remains in the blood and it is not converted to energy, a person feels tired and tends to sleep

Weight loss : Diabetic people are unable to process many of the needed calories required for the body the weight loss in common symptom.

Excessive Urination : It is due to kidneys spilling the excess sugar present in the blood. Hence there is an increase in amount of urine in made. This leads to dehydration in the body as sugar takes away large amount of water content along with it.

Increased thirst: This is due excessive urination. To overcome the loss of water the body tries to compensate by thirst.

Increase in appetite: This is common in type 2 diabetes people as the body makes excessive insulin due to insulin resistance. The function of insulin is to stimulate hunger.

Poor wound healing: High blood sugar is harmful in many ways. It prevent white blood cells i.e. antibodies, whose function is to defend the body against bacteria and cleaning up dead tissue and cells. Which make poor wound healing.
